Francisco Gonzalez was a contemporary of Antonio de Torres and Vicente Arias. Some of his guitars, highly decorated in his own exuberant style, have earned him fame and prizes at various exhibitions. Francisco Gonzalez is also famous for having been the master of José Ramirez who later trained his brother Manuel Ramírez. When he died in 1879, his widow and son-in-law Enrique Romans Papell (trained by Francisco Gonzalez) continued the activity and gave the workshop the name "Viuda e Hijos de González". In 1901, the workshop was renamed "Casa Gonzalez" and continued until the 1940s.
The guitar presented here has a small size and a look that recalls the romantic guitars. However, it has the tone and expressiveness of Spanish guitars.
