This guitar was made by Gabriele Lodi as a tribute to Antonio de Torres. It isn’t just a replica of a Torres guitar, it was elaborated as a synthesis of various elements that Gabriele Lodi was able to observe on several historic Torres guitars he had been restoring. The restoration work sometimes required removing the back of the guitar for internal repairs/ in order to repair internal elements — which enabled him to examine (and learn) exactly how Torres's instruments functioned. Beyond that, Lodi’s restoration work helped him understand thoroughly Torres’s very intentions and his particular approach to guitar making.
Gabriele Lodi has taken full advantage of these characteristics to adapt his instrument to the needs of today’s guitarists.
This guitar’s esthetics and finishes are remarkable for their beauty and precision. Its timbre is lyrical and full of charm. It has excellent balance, with a wide spectrum between its deep, round basses and its clear, vibrating trebles. Its being comfortable to play adds to the appeal of this outstanding instrument.
