The guitar that José Ramirez III developed for Segovia in the 1960s will remain a major advance in 20th century lutherie with the use of cedar for the soundboard.
In the Ramirez workshop of the 1960s we find the finest in Madrid lutherie: workshop leader Paulino Bernabé and under his direction Manuel Contreras, Miguel Malo, Alfonso Contreras, Ignacio Rozas, Manuel Cáceres, Félix Manzanero, Mariano Tezanos... This guitar came out of the hands of Alfonso Contreras Valbuena (AC) and went into the hands of Prat, a concert artist from Barcelona (see Ramirez's registers). In the 80s it was bought by José Vicente Ripollés, guitar teacher and composer from Valencia and with her son won the III Guitar Competition in Sevilla. It is one of the first guitars made in redcedar and is an example of an exceptional guitar on page 262 of Luis F. Leal's book "Guitarreros de Madrid".
