José Yacopi was born in 1916 in Victoria in Spain (Bilbao area). In 1949, he emigrated to Argentina, in 1951 he set up his workshop in San Fernando, 30km north of Buenos Aires. Narciso Yepes, Eduardo Falú, Atahualpa Yupanqui, María Luisa Anido, Cacho Tirao ... many famous guitarists played on his guitars of that time. He used an original brace system, that he had invented, which gives his guitars a singular and specific timbre.
