Kevin Aram was born in 1949 in Clipstone, UK. He began his career as a luthier in 1978, and to date has built over 300 guitars. He has restored old instruments by historic luthiers (Arias, Esteso, Santos Hernández, Manuel Ramírez...), which has allowed him to study them. In 1991, Kevin Aram settled in beautiful North Devon, where he concentrated on building guitars in the tradition of Antonio de Torres. Julian Bream has owned two of Kevin Aram's guitars: the 1986 "Cancion" and the 1988 "Myrtle", with which he recorded the "Chansons populaires catalanes" on the album "la Guitarra Romantica".
The guitar presented here, bearing the name "Eliza" is a wonderful guitar. The bracing is Torres type with 7 fan struts bracing. The luthier's craftsmanship is perfectly executed, the aesthetics sober and elegant, and the varnish mat (oiled). The woods are first choice, as is the beautifully marbled top (bearclaw). Soundwise, the bass is round and deep, and the treble is pearly, pulpy and vibrant. The timbre is woody and beautifully expressive. Its lyrical musicality is recalled in the guitars of the great old masters. An exceptional instrument that we invite you to discover.
