Lorenzo Frignani lives and works in Modena. Since 1986, he has been making guitars, violins and lutes as well as restoring antique instruments and he has won several prestigious awards for his lutherie work. In addition to his main career in instrument building, he also works as a court expert, consultant, teacher, and lecturer in the field of lutherie. He is involved in research on the use of local tone woods and has written several books on the history of lutherie (see article Orfeo Magazine).
This instrument is a replica of a 1910 Manuel Ramirez guitar which was part of his personal collection. This is an aesthetically exquisite instrument. Its soundboard’s marbled appearance was achieved through a chemical process (it was not stained nor dyed); this is the same method he uses for his replicas of historical violins. Soundwise, it recreates faithfully all the charm and beauty of the original instrument. This guitar has round and deep basses, melodious and woody trebles, with a greatly expressive timbre and musicality.
