Michael Cadiz was born in 1983 near Baltimore. He started playing the guitar at the age of eleven and continued his musical studies in Paris with Jean-Pierre Billet and in Chicago with Sergio Assad. He studied lutherie with Rick Davis in Seattle, then in Oregon with Robert Ruck. In 2016 he set up his own workshop in Graz, Austria.
The aesthetics are superb, as is the modernist-inspired rosette, and the craftsmanship is perfectly done. In terms of sound, this Concert model combines the performance of modern instruments: powerful, solid sound, raised fingerboard... with the charm of traditionally built instruments: woody and silky tone, vibrant and smooth notes. .... This is what the luthier himself says: « My Concert model is the result of studying and drawing inspiration from the work of many different luthiers. It is my attempt to reconcile the allure of late nineteenth century Spanish instruments with the higher string tension, body, brilliance and projection of a modern guitar. These guitars have an large dynamic range, variety of timbres, clarity and balance. »
