When Oren Myers learned to play guitar as a teenager, he thought more about learning to play Jimi Hendrix than classical guitar. Over the years, thanks to his teacher, he discovered the classical guitar and its possibilities in terms of sound quality, expressiveness and tone color. At the time, Oren Myers had no plans to become a luthier; he studied English literature at university. When he finished his studies, he decided to learn how to build classical guitars. Initially self-taught, he contacted Christopher Dean, who generously shared his knowledge and advice. Later, Oren Myers enrolled in the lutherie classes of José Romanillos, who is known to have played an important role in the history of the classical guitar in England. He set up his workshop in a farmhouse in Oxfordshire, where he still works today. Oren Myers' guitars are of the traditional type (Torres, Hauser), which he believes best express the musician's personality.
The beautiful guitar presented here has a Spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. The aesthetics are superb (rosette motifs, purfling...) and the craftsmanship is extremely precise. Soundwise, the result is remarkable. Notes are dense, singing, colorful and flexible, and the timbre is woody and expressive. The flexibility and a wide color spectrum ensure high musical quality and ease of play. A fine concert guitar to discover for those who don't yet know the work of this talented luthier.
