This José Ramirez flamenca guitar built in 1970 bears the initials "AM" on the heel which were those of the luthier Antonio Martinez Ortega. He worked for Ramirez from 1959 to 1971, he is considered one of the best luthiers who worked for Ramirez during these years alongside other great names such as Paulino Bernabe, Manuel Contreras, Felix Manzanero... Contrarily to them, he never opened his own workshop and built guitars under his own name. He remained faithful to Ramirez and built nearly 450 guitars during his career. Andrés Segovia played on Ramirez guitars built by Ortega, and when the famous concertist visited them he spent long moments talking together about lutherie.
This guitar has remained in excellent condition: no cracks or repairs, the neck has not moved and there is still some margin on the saddle to lower the strings.
