Ryoji Matsuoka started making classical guitars as a self-taught artist in the early 1950s. In 1959, he founded the Matsuoka Company in Nagoya. He built various models of instruments inspired by Ramirez, Kohno, Hauser, etc... The quality of his work will allow him to quickly acquire a reputation. This early model built around 1960 is rare, it corresponds to the "N1" model with solid woods built on the model of Hauser guitars. The sound qualities for an instrument of this level show the craftmanship of the Japanese builders of that time. The notes are clear and expressive with a nice presence and a well defined character.
