Masaki Sakurai is one of Japan's most renowned luthiers. He was trained by his uncle Masaru Kohno, one of the most important luthiers of the 20th century. Through his talent and the quality of his guitars, Sakurai quickly proved himself worthy of this heritage, which he continues to perpetuate today. In 1988, Sakurai won the prestigious first prize at the fourth Paris International Guitar Making Competition, earning him the status of a world-class luthier.
This "Model 10" guitar by Masaki Sakurai, built in 1983, illustrates his talent for craftsmanship from the very first years of his career. The finish and aesthetics are impeccable. Soundwise, the
bass is ample and the treble clear and rich in harmonics. The response is reactive, with good sustain. The timbre is warm, woody and expressive. A beautiful instrument to discover.
